4th Festival About Love Among OTHERS

About Love Among OTHERS - festival of films about sexual minorities organized by Goethe-Institut and Kino Pod Baranami will take place between May 13-19 2011.

The fourth edition of our Festival consists of different genres and origins. We will present features and documentaries from different parts of the world: South Africa, France, Germany, Denmark, Hong Kong and Paraguay. We'll see both the films shown in recent months at international festivals, but also classics from the 60s(Diferente) and films that have not yet been widely presented in the world (Difficult Love - a documentary about South African photographer).

Among the documentaries there will be also a story of a mysterious figure of Japanese pop culture from the 50s and 60s, Akihiro Miwa (Miwa, A Japanese Icon - Polish premiere!). 108 Cuchillo de Palo (Black List - Berlin 2010, Krakow Film Festival 2010) is a film about Paraguayan “list 108" containing names of persons of different sexual orientation. A document We Were Here (Polish premiere!) is a deep and reflective approach to AIDS - its origins and influence on life in contemporary San Francisco.

Spanish film from 1961 called Diferente is a rare case of a film with such theme, which has managed to get through the censorship of Franco's Spain. Another Polish premiere will be Gigola by Laure Charpentier. It’s about a young woman living in Paris in the early 60's, who becomes a female gigolo. A Polish actress Grażyna Szapołowska will be seen in a German production, Nachbarinnen (Wanted!). The program review will be complemented by screenings of the controversial Danish film Brotherhood - about the relationship within the neo-Nazi group.

Also on screen during the Festival will be films already shown in Krakow: 80 Days, Contracorriente and I Killed My Mother.
