MANHATTAN SHORT FILM FESTIVAL
- for the 15th time in Kino Pod Baranami!

October 4th 2020, 8.00 p.m.
Kino Pod Baranami

Kino Pod Baranami presents Manhattan Short Film Festival for the 15th time! It is a unique, global film event that brings together viewers from all over the world. During the screening on the 4th of October, the audience gathered in Krakow's cinema will see a set of films nominated for the main award. After the screening - together with viewers from all over the world – they will choose the best film, giving it a chance to compete in the Oscar race.

Manhattan Short Film Festival is the only festival in the world that takes place simultaneously in over 400 cinemas on six continents, gathering hundreds of thousands of cinema lovers in almost all corners of the globe. This year, out of 971 submitted films, 9 titles were qualified for the festival finale.

During the screening on 4th of October, viewers in Kino Pod Baranami will get to know them and decide, together with cinema lovers from all over the world, which one of them deserves the main prize and a chance for an Oscar statuette.

Despite the general trend, Manhattan Short Film Festival will not be presented online. As director Nicholas Mason points out, Manhattan Short Film Festival is strictly a cinematic event: The films I remember best are those I saw in a cinema. Streaming the Manhattan Short Film Festival was never an option. While the numbers are sure to be down, you have to stay true to what you do. MANHATTAN SHORT is a cinematic experience.

Films presented during the festival prove that you don't need a full-length feature to tell a poignant story. Despite their short duration, films from Manhattan Short Film Festival do not shy away from difficult topics such as drug addiction (Exam), abandonment of animals (Hey, Gray), homophobia (Two Little Boys), corruption in the police (Safe Space) or the current situation of Palestinians (The Present). At the same time they offer irony, distance and a few laughs, for example by presenting a certain unusual concert (Maestro) or ridiculous bureaucratic absurdities (Sticker). Films shown during Manhattan Short Film Festival screening also do not hesitate to ask intriguing questions about raising children and teaching them responsibility (The Stick) or overcoming one’s shyness (White Eye).

All films will be presented in original language versions with English subtitles, without Polish translation.
