The Bride! is a bold reinterpretation of the Frankenstein tale that focuses on the fate of a woman brought back to life to become the monster's partner. Maggie Gyllenhaal's new film will be screened in the ASP auditorium, programmed by Kino Pod Baranami, as part of the English-language Cinemino series on Wednesday, March 11th, at 5:45 PM.
Following the success of the three-time Oscar-nominated drama The Lost Daughter, director Maggie Gyllenhaal reunites with Jessie Buckley in The Bride!. Inspired by the classic 1930s horror film, the story centers on a murdered woman who is brought back to life with one sole purpose: to become the eternal companion of a grotesque monster. However, when The Bride returns from beyond the grave, she discovers her own voice, identity, and desires. Gyllenhaal's film changes the course of one of the most gripping stories in history, and the award-winning Hamnet actress Jessie Buckley takes on another wild, creative challenge.
Oscar winner Christian Bale stars as Frankenstein's Monster, and the cast also includes Annette Bening, Peter Sarsgaard, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Penélope Cruz.
Cinemino is a series of screenings for international audiences, during which viewers from around the world come together to watch the latest Polish and international productions. Each meeting consists of a film screening at Kino Pod Baranami and an informal post-screening discussion at Betel Club. The event is held in English, and the films are shown either in English, or with English subtitles.
The Cinemino series is hosted by Krzysztof Bielski (Jagiellonian University) and Małgorzata Mączko (Kino Pod Baranami).
