Winner of the Palme d'Or at Cannes and two BAFTA Awards, Lynne Ramsay (We Need to Talk About Kevin, You Were Never Really Here) directs a gripping story about motherhood, love, and desire, which can be as beautiful as they are devastating. The film, starring Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson, is based on a novel by one of Argentina's most interesting contemporary writers, Ariana Harwicz.
The film tells the story of Grace and Jackson, who are expecting their first child. However, their new life in a remote house proves to be much more difficult than they anticipated. Grace, spending long days alone with her child, begins to exhibit increasingly strange behaviors that wreak havoc on the family's life. Grace's reality begins to give way to wild fantasies. Ramsay's film is a dark story about loneliness, isolation, and the loss of control over one's life.
The Cinemino series is hosted by Krzysztof Bielski (Jagiellonian University) and Małgorzata Mączko (Kino Pod Baranami).
