The film The Altar Boys was a major winner at the Gdynia Film Festival, praised by critics and audiences alike. The story of a group of teenage boys seeking justice will be screened with English subtitles during an English-friendly screening in the MOS auditorium, programmed by Kino Pod Baranami. The event is a part of the English-language Cinemino series and will take place on Wednesday, November 26th, at 6:00 PM.
Cinemino is a series of screenings for international audiences, during which viewers from around the world come together to watch the latest Polish and international productions. Each meeting consists of a film screening at Kino Pod Baranami and an informal post-screening discussion at Betel Club. The event is held in English, and the films are shown either in English, or with English subtitles. The upcoming event will feature a screening of Piotr Domalewski’s The Altar Boys.
At this year's Gdynia Film Festival, The Altar Boys were awarded the prestigious Golden Lions for Best Film. Festivalgoers also decided to honor Domalewski's latest film with the Audience Award, and by giving it the longest applause. Balancing drama and dark humor, the film tells the story of teenage boys who, in their quest for justice, take matters into their own hands. Armed with youthful rebellion, they bug the confessional and become judges in their neighborhood world.
However, their mission turns into a dangerous game, and the boys begin to walk the fine line between good and evil. Real life blends with a mission straight out of superhero comics, with surplices instead of capes. The Altar Boys is a film that is not afraid to ask difficult questions about religion, community, guilt, and redemption – but it does so with authenticity instead of preaching.
The Cinemino series is hosted by Krzysztof Bielski (Jagiellonian University) and Małgorzata Mączko (Kino Pod Baranami).

Armed with youthful rebellion and their own interpretation of the Scripture, they install a bug in a confessional to eavesdrop on their neighbors. Masked like Zorro and with ambitions worthy of Robin Hood, they become judges in their neighborhood, helping those in need and meting out punishment for sins.
The film will be screened with English subtitles.

Film Ministranci to wielki zwycięzca festiwalu w Gdyni, który podbił serca krytyków i publiczności. Opowieść o grupie nastoletnich ministrantów szukających sprawiedliwości zostanie wyświetlona z angielskimi i polskimi napisami na pokazie English friendly w programowanej przez nas sali MOS. Spotkanie w anglojęzycznym cyklu Cinemino odbędzie się w środę, 26 listopada, o godzinie 18.00.
Cinemino to cykl pokazów dla międzynarodowej publiczności, podczas których pochodzący z całego świata widzowie wspólnie oglądają najnowsze polskie i zagraniczne produkcje. Każde spotkanie składa się z projekcji filmu w Kinie Pod Baranami oraz nieformalnej dyskusji po seansie w zaprzyjaźnionym klubie Betel. Wydarzenie odbywa się w języku angielskim, a filmy wyświetlane są w języku angielskim lub z angielskimi napisami. Na najbliższym spotkaniu wyświetlony zostanie film Ministranci Piotra Domalewskiego.
Na tegorocznym festiwalu w Gdyni Ministrantów uhonorowano najwyższym wyróżnieniem - Złotymi Lwami dla najlepszego filmu. Festiwalowa publiczność również doceniła najnowszy film reżysera, przyznając mu swoje wyróżnienie i nagradzając go najdłuższymi oklaskami. To balansująca między dramatem a czarnym humorem opowieść o grupie młodych chłopaków, którzy w poszukiwaniu sprawiedliwości biorą sprawy w swoje ręce. Uzbrojeni w młodzieńczy bunt zakładają podsłuch w konfesjonale i stają się sędziami w swoim osiedlowym świecie.
Jednak ich misja zamienia się w niebezpieczną grę, a chłopcy, stosując własny, idealistyczny kodeks honorowy, zaczynają balansować na cienkiej granicy między dobrem a złem. Prawdziwe życie blokowiska miesza się z misją wprost z komiksów o superbohaterach, z komżami zamiast peleryn. Ministranci to kino, które nie boi się zadawać trudnych pytań o religię, wspólnotę, winę i odkupienie — ale robi to bez kaznodziejstwa, z mocą autentycznego przekazu.
