The best  Polish shorts from Short Waves Festival 2017 program will travel across Poland once again. On Wednesday, April 19, a special screening of Short Waves on Tour will take place at Kino Pod Baranami.

 

The programme includes six shorts competing for the best film award. The viewers at Kino Pod Baranami will see three documentaries. Among them, the work of visual artist Julia Staniszewska, Three Conversations on Life, recording the story of a mother and daughter in a difficult dialogue about love, faith and ideology; the film Education directed by Emi Buchwald, awarded at the T-Mobile New Horizons IFF in 2016, as well as the captivating Close Ties by Zofia Kowalewska, which won the Silver Dragon Award last year at the Krakow Film Festival. Fans of animation will be satisfied with autoironic Debut by Katarzyna Kijek and Przemysław Adamski with soundtrack composed by well-known Polish musician Mikołaj Trzaska. An incredibly funny animation by Renata Gąsiorowska will also appear on screen under the provocative title Pussy. This year, only film representing fiction genre is Milena Dutkowska’s Come Play with Me, which received a Special Mention in 2016 at the Gdynia Film Festival.

 

The audience of Short Waves on Tour across the whole country will vote for the best film and the director granted the most votes will receive the Audience Award of 7000 PLN.

 

All films will be presented in original version, with Polish and English subtitles.

A series of difficult conversations between a mother and a daughter. The mother is a doctor and a devout, practicing Catholic. The daughter is an atheist  whose children were conceived through IVF. The mother is torn between love for her family and her Catholic beliefs.

Polish Film Festival in Gdynia 2016: Special Mention in the Young Cinema Competition
